Less than two weeks after the release of their first single in two years Florence + The Machine are back with another brand new track - 'Heaven Is Here'. Aside from sharing the Disney soundtrack song - 'Call Me Cruella' from the stylised Emma Stone '101 Dalmatians' spin off 'Cruella', Florence + The Machine haven't dropped any new music since the single 'Light Of Love' in 2020.
With snippets of new tracks being shared on social media ahead of the release of the band's first single of 2022 - 'King', speculation is growing that the 'Shake It Out' band have a new album due imminently.
Taking to Instagram the day before release Florence posted - "Heaven is Here was the first song I wrote in lockdown after an extended period of not being able to get to the studio. I wanted to make something monstrous. And this clamour of joy, fury and grief was the first thing that came out. With dance studios also shut it was my dream to one day create choreography with it. So it’s one of the first pieces of music I have made specifically with contemporary dance in mind".
On the day that the video dropped Florence thanked film director Autumn de Wilde and choreographer Ryan Heffington for the 'Heaven Is Here' video which was "Filmed in KYIV 20 NOV 2021". Lead singer Florence Welsh went on to add that because of the ongoing conflict between Russia and the Ukraine - "Two of the dancers in this video are currently sheltering. To my brave and beautiful sisters Maryne and Anastasiia, I love you. I wish I could put my arms around you. Strength".
'Heaven Is Here' is a dramatic, percussive track that suits itself particularly well to the tightly choreographed sequences used to accompany the song in the video. F+TM have made a very strong start to 2022 with two stunning singles signaling the way for another great album any time soon.
