The first publicity shots of the 2017 follow-up to 'Jumanji' showed Gillan dressed in what she called "child sized clothes" - but said that all would become clear.
Former ‘Doctor Who’ star Karen Gillan has replied to criticisms that the first promotional shots from the new Jumanji movie are sexist because of the (extremely) tight clothes she’s wearing.
The new movie, which has been in production for the last four years, is intended as a sequel to the 1995 family favourite movie of the same name. Its release is currently set for July 28th, 2017 and work on the project has accelerated considerably in the last few months.
Jumanji! Yes I'm wearing child sized clothes and YES there is a reason! The pay off is worth it, I promise! #Jumanji pic.twitter.com/qBshnhwV6K

The first photo from the set was unveiled earlier this week in a press release, featuring the movie’s big-name stars Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart and Jack Black alongside a very skimpily-dressed Gillan. Quickly, it drew criticism from some quarters for being sexist, as her co-stars were not showing any skin.
The 28 year old Scottish actress eventually took to Twitter to explain that she was aware she was wearing “child sized clothes” in the shot, but said “the pay off is worth it, I promise”.
Johnson, the highest-paid actor in the world over the last year, also addressed the controversy. “Our costumes will all make fun sense soon," he tweeted.
The original movie is one of the most beloved family movies of the ‘90s, whose reputation has gone up since the death of its star Robin Williams two years ago. Johnson, who is also serving as a producer on Jumanji, says that the movie will honour Williams’ character.
“An important thing that I want to be honest and bring up is Robin Williams. The love and respect I have for this man is boundless,” he wrote on Instagram earlier this year. “You have my word, we will honour his name and the character of 'Alan Parrish' will stand alone and be forever immortalized in the world of Jumanji in an earnest and cool way.”
