Professional 'scarers' at Monsters Inc., Mike Wazowski and James P. Sullivan (nicknamed Mike and Sulley) haven't always been so scary. 'Monsters University' tells the story of the duo's time at the University of Fear, about ten years previous, where they took their education in scaring children and often practised on each other with various college pranks that obviously united them in the end.
The movie will be the first prequel to be produced by Pixar Animation Studios, recalling events previous to what happened in the 2001 film 'Monsters Inc.' which told the story of a failing company that collected the screams of children to power the city of Monstropolis by using monsters called 'scarers'. However, the company has to find new tactics in order to keep the business going when children become increasingly difficult to terrify and an arch-enemy threatens to put the 'scarers' of Monsters Inc. out of a job. Directed by Dan Scanlon ('Tracy') and produced by Kori Rae ('Up', 'The Incredibles'), 'Monsters University' is the story of when Mike and Sulley were less than the best of friends. A hilarious CGI family comedy rightly suitable for anyone, the first teaser trailer for the movie has been released with 3D premieres due on June 21st 2013 in the US and July 12th 2013 in the UK.
