Sigrid follows up her recent collaborative single featuring Griff with - 'It Gets Dark', the latest track to be lifted from her upcoming second album. The new song will feature on Sigrid's hotly anticipated follow-up to her 2019 debut album - 'Sucker Punch' and Sigrid says that - "I honestly don’t think I’ve ever been as excited about a single release before".
Sigrid shared details of her new album as her new single dropped when she tweeted - "guys, it’s album time my second album How To Let Go is coming May 6th, and I couldn’t be more excited! I’ve been trying to learn how to let go of things, not always easy, but I’m getting there :) making this album has been an absolute joy and I can’t wait for you to hear it!"
The young Norwegian explained that 'It Gets Dark' explores multiple, contrasting sides of her personality as she said - "They’re two different things. The chill girl who loves to ski and hike and cook versus the other part of me that’s like let’s go out, or let’s play massive shows, go on stage and not be scared of anything".
In an accompanying press statement Sigrid said that - "I believe you need to feel the lows in life to feel the highs, and you have to know what sucks to then properly appreciate the good stuff. ‘It Gets Dark’ is an ode to that".
Sigrid talked to BBC Radio 1's Clara Amfo about her new track when Clara premiered it on her show and made it her 'Hottest Record In The World'. "I think when we wrote ‘It Gets Dark’ I didn’t know what my second album was going to sound like and then when I heard that intro, that’s when I knew: This is it – this is the sound...it’s been the leading star for the whole new era."
“I’ve really found another part of myself with touring so much and playing live" Sigrid explained. "I absolutely love that. If something happens, it happens and you’ve just got to get on with it. ‘It Gets Dark’ is also a homage to all that touring as well."
Sigrid's new album - 'How To Let Go', will be released via Island Records on May 6th.
