Conor (James McAvoy) and Eleanor (Jessica Chastain) play a couple who fall in love and get married, before hitting various hiccups in their relationship. However, this film is far from the clichéd love story, and instead tells the tale from both points of view, as well as relatable and engaging look at the relationship of two people still trying to figure out who the other person truly is. The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby charts the highs and lows in a relationship between two people trying to recreate the past, so as not to let their love fade away.
The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby signals director Ned Benson's first feature length film. Then again, it could also count as his first three feature length films, as Disappearance is a combination of his two films from last year, Him and Her. Them (as the amalgamation is also known) naturally clocks in at the longest runtime of the three films, with the shortest being Him. This ambitious approach to filmmaking has already left the Cannes Film Festival love-struck last year, and as the popularity of the separate movies continues to grow, Them is gaining a tremendous amount of following hype from the movie going public.
