Kanye West's claymation substitute is seen kidnapping and burying his ex-wife's new squeeze in the video for 'Eazy' - but he insists, "Art is not a proxy for any ill or harm". Ye's very public divorce from his former wife Kim took one more turn for the worse last week as a judge ruled that they were formally declared single. To coincide with the judge's decision Kanye dropped the now widely criticised video for his collaborative single with The Game.
As divorce proceedings were ongoing Kanye's wife of eight years was known to be dating Saturday Night Live comedian Pete Davidson and it is clearly Davidson that is kidnapped and buried in Ye's new video for 'Eazy'. Evidently Mr West has not taken the ruling well and on his new album, 'Donda 2', Ye takes the opportunity, on more than one occasion, to express his raw emotional state.
In a statement on his Instagram page, about his latest creation - 'DEAD', Kanye posted - "I feel already compromised that I have to justify my expression after over 20 years of art that I’ve contributed to the planet but I also see the need to make sure we as a species are allowed to still feel anything Men not allowed to cry celebrities not allowed to cry I will not explain this new piece for the explanation destroys the mystery and magic of true love and puts it in a box that can be counted Art is subjective Art only works when it is the artist absolute truth Someone’s truth can be another persons lie We don’t all have to feel the same because we are not the same With out further ado I present to you my latest creation it is called DEAD".
This statement was released after his initial reaction to the backlash he had received over the controversial 'Eazy' video where he had insisted that - "Art is therapy just like this view, art is protected as freedom of speech, art inspires and simplifies the world. Art is not a proxy for any ill or harm. Any suggestion otherwise about my art is false and mal intended".
Claymation or not, intended or not, ill thought through or not...Kanye is clearly hurting. Does anyone care?
