Why this publication exists
Gaga Images is an independent editorial publication about performance photography and visual archives. It explains how images are made, selected, described, preserved and reused. The guiding belief is that visual literacy grows when the frame and its documentary context are examined together.
The project uses original text, original diagrams and commissioned visual material. It is not a downloadable image library and does not collect celebrity photographs. Its name reflects expressive imagery and archival inquiry; it does not indicate an official relationship with a performer, photographer, label, estate or fan community.
No inherited identity
This is a new publication on a domain with earlier history. It does not reproduce a former website, claim its collection, speak for its editors or imply institutional continuity. Historical descriptions of the domain may refer to a fan-image gallery; those descriptions do not define the ownership, content or affiliations of this new project.
The distinction is deliberate. A restored name can acknowledge the broad subject of images without copying an archive, identity or copyrighted collection. New material should be judged by its own authorship and policies.
Editorial scope
Core subjects include stage and event photography, contact sheets, photographic selection, metadata, captions, credits, rights information, digital preservation and the migration of images between contexts. Broader visual-culture topics appear when they illuminate those practical questions.
The articles are educational, not legal advice, rights clearance or preservation certification. Copyright, privacy and publicity rules vary by jurisdiction and circumstance. Readers responsible for publication should obtain appropriate professional guidance for a specific collection or use.
Image policy
Images used in the editorial site must be original, commissioned, openly licensed with documented terms, or clearly permitted for the intended use. A credit is not treated as a substitute for permission. Files found through search or social media are not republished merely because they are easy to download.
Generated conceptual artwork must avoid recognizable people and must not imitate a living photographer’s signature style. Diagrams should explain a process without presenting fictional records as historical evidence. Captions identify conceptual images as such when confusion is plausible.
Editorial method
Articles distinguish direct observation, documented fact and interpretation. Examples are framed generically unless a specific documented case is necessary. Technical advice prioritizes reversible, comprehensible practices: preserve sources, keep versions separate, document provenance and export metadata in readable forms.
The publication does not invent contributors, physical offices, partnerships or institutional credentials. When external sources are added, they should point to traceable museum, library, standards or creator records rather than repeat unattributed summaries.
Corrections and changes
Factual corrections should be made promptly and recorded when substantive. Changes in emphasis or layout need not create a public log, but a correction involving identity, date, creator, rights or provenance should retain enough internal history to explain the earlier value and the evidence for revision.
Questions about an image begin with provenance: which file, from which source, with what record? General claims without an identifiable object are difficult to investigate. A responsible correction improves both the visible caption and the underlying archive entry.
What the site does not offer
Gaga Images does not sell prints, provide press downloads, clear third-party rights, identify unknown people from biometric comparison, or accept confidential archives through the public website. It does not publish rumours or private material simply because an image appears unusual.
The site’s role is narrower and more durable: to provide clear ways of thinking about photographs as crafted pictures and documented objects. That work is valuable precisely because an image can travel much farther than the context that once made it obvious.
